| With 200km of coastline, Wexford has beaches to suit all. Only 7
miles from town, Curracloe Beach is a great example of miles of unspoilt
white sandy beach. Guided walking tours of the sand dunes and nearby
forest take place daily during summer. In 1997, this was the location
for D-Day landing scenes in the Tom Hanks film "Saving Private Ryan". |

Selskar
Abbey & Westgate Castle can be seen from most of our bedroom windows
Abbey House. This 13th century Westgate Castle and Abbey once
formed part of five Norman mediaeval entrances to town. The centre
presents an audio-visual theatre with a spectacular presentation of the
history of Wexford Town. |

Johnstown
Castle is one of many castles in the area. This is a large
gothic-revival style mansion incorporating part of a more ancient
castle. It has 50 acres of ornamental grounds and over 200 different
kinds of trees, shrubs and three ornamental lakes with wildlife. It also
hosts the Irish Agricultural Museum & Famine Exhibition. Johnstown
Castle is well worth a visit during your stay in Wexford. |

Irish
National Heritage Park This is the region's show piece on a
well-developed 35-acre site overlooking the Slaney River. The Park takes
you on an adventure through 9,000 years of Irish History. The unique
atmosphere presented by the surroundings combined with an excellent
restaurant and extensive range of Irish gifts and clothing in the Craft
Shop, make it a great day out. |

Kilmore
Quay is a small rural fishing village only 20km from town with its
lovely thatched houses and miles of sandy beach. Here, you can take a
boat trip to the famous Saltee Islands, one of the most important bird
sanctuaries in Europe. Bring binoculars to look at the sea birds, there
is a colony of Gannets. Kilmore Quay also has a great reputation for
Diving and Angling. Species caught locally include bass, cod, shark,
tope, ling, mackerel, bream, pollock, skate and whiting. Or just take it
easy and sample catch-of-the-day in the local pubs and restaurants. |

| Dunbrody Heritage Ship Based in New Ross, Co Wexford, only a
15 minute drive from Wexford Town. This authentic replica of the Three
Masted Barque built in Quebec in 1845. This accurate and full scale
reproduction of a 19th century famine ship provides the visitor with a
unique experience from a period in history which shaped modern day
America and Ireland. Tracing the amazing success stories of The
Kennedy's, Henry Ford and Commodore Barry and others. A well presented
re-enactment, audio visual and computer database of passengers makes
this ship well worth a visit. |
